Low-Flow High-Head Solution Powers CO₂ Electrolysis for Syngas Production
In a national-level CCUS demonstration project converting industrial CO₂ to syngas (CO+H₂), the makeup pump system faced extreme challenges: ≤28 m³/h flow, 400m head, NPSHA≤2.0m, and media containing solids. Traditional multistage/high-speed pumps suffered from low efficiency, frequent maintenance, and cavitation risks. Volm’s VMH03X series pumps delivered a customized solution.
VMH03X Engineering Breakthroughs
1. Precision Hydraulic Design
• Open impeller + optimized flow paths → NPSHr≤1.5m at 3,000 rpm without an inducer (NPSHr 40% lower than standard OH2 pumps);
• Axial force auto-balancing: Sector-vane impeller design and its 0.8~1.2mm clearance with pump casing neutralize 95% axial thrust → ≤2.5mm/s vibration at 1 m³/h ultra-low flow.
2. High Reliability and Ease of Maintenance
• Centerline support structure: 3× API 610 nozzle load capacity → extends seal life by 60%;
• Back pull-out design: Seal/bearing replacement in 45 minutes without pipe disassembly (70% faster maintenance).
3. Full-Range Adaptability
• Tungsten carbide coating (≥HRC65) reduces wear rate by 50% for ≤50μm solids (≤1% concentration);
• API 682 cartridge seals for corrosive/flammable media;
• Performance coverage: 1~28 m³/h flow | 8~400m head | 11.0MPa design pressure.
